Become a Union Member and Vote on Our First Contract

In order to ensure that all full-time lecturers can vote on the tentative agreement that we have reached with Tufts administration, there is now an online ballot. But first, in order to vote, you must become a member of the union by filling out this online membership form:

Once you become a member, you will be emailed a ballot by the end of the following business day. Membership will go into effect the next time you teach. Membership dues are 1.5% of your gross pay, are only deducted when you are teaching, and will not be deducted until after the new pay rates outlined in the contract go into effect.

(For those of you who received an email from Carley Russell with an attached PDF of the membership card, you can disregard the PDF and complete the online form instead. Tufts notified the Union yesterday that we can proceed with electronic membership signups. If you’ve already sent Carley a scanned copy of your membership card, you will receive a ballot within the next 24 hours.)

The deadline to submit your online ballot is Thursday, June 9 at 5:00 PM. If you wish to receive a ballot, the absolute latest you can fill out a membership form is Thursday, June 8 at 5:00 PM. Voting will be closed and ballots counted on Thursday so please complete the membership form and vote as soon as you are able.

For eleven months, a negotiating committee of full-time lecturers bargained with the administration to reach this tentative agreement. The committee has recommended ratification of the agreement.
